this afternoon. it's been a busy political week in virginia. in addition to romney, first lady michelle obama was also in the state yesterday visiting richmond and fredericksburg. >>> a new poll shows that president obama holds a five-point lead over mitt romney in virginia. the nbc news/wall street journal poll shows the president leading mitt romney by five points. he holds a similar lead in florida and seven points in ohio. >>> the president and first lady will welcome many of our olympic athletes to the white house this morning. president obama will honor the 2012 u.s. olympic and paralympic teams in a south lawn ceremony. one of the swimmers being honored, matt mcclain of loudoun county. he had a hand in helping america take the gold in the men's 4 by 200 relay. >>> next week the senate will take up a spending bill to prevent a government shutdown. the house passed a bill that essentially puts the government on autopilot for six months. it includes the support of republican vice presidential nominee paul ryan even though it permits spending above the budget he authored this spring. >>> t
